Hi All,
I'm trying to import some data using the BCP command line utility.
I've set the maxerrors switch to 0. In case of an exception such as a
cast exception the import fails leaving the table state dirtied.
ie...with partial data imported.
From what I understand from a few other posts the transaction logs
only store the space alocated and not the actual data.
How does one ensure that the import is done in a transaction ?
Any suggestions/ideas will be great.
Regards,
Avinash
Can you post the command you are running

BCP out in UTF8 format
How to generate a file using BCP in UTF8 format. The table contains varchar, nvarchar and money as dataytpe for some columns. Will the –w switch in BCP for data file type would solve the problem because SQL server stores the data in UCS 2.0 format.
No, BCP will save it as UCS2

BCP IN ISO-8859-1 (ISO-LATIN-1) TYPEFACE
I NEED TO BCP DATA FROM A TABLE TO BE COMPLIANT WITH THE
ISO-8859-1 (ISO-LATIN-1) TYPEFACE
IS THERE A SWITCH I CAN USE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS.
EMAD
I am not sure what you mean by compliance with ISO-LATIN-1. If your column collation is specified correctly then BCP will automatically preserve that upon export. So when you create the data file you should get the characters exported correctly. BCP also has the -C option where you can specify the code page used for character translation explicitly but this parameter is meant for backward compatibility purposes.
